Kirisa is a frisbee ball for children: a flexible plastic toy that works both as a flying disc and as a ball. You press it with your hands until it is flat, throw it like a frisbee and, after a few seconds, it pops open in mid-flight and lands as a ball. It is designed for children who can already throw and catch with ease, and for playing with them in the park, on the beach or in the garden.

A flying disc that turns into a ball

The body is made of flexible plastic segments joined together. When you press it from above, it folds in on itself and holds as a disc. As it flies, the plastic gradually springs back until the catch releases and the ball opens. The exact moment changes from one throw to the next, and that is part of the fun: you never quite know whether you are about to catch a disc or a ball.

A frisbee for children, light and easy to catch

Being made of light, flexible plastic, it is easier to catch than a rigid disc and gives a little if it arrives with some force. Even so, it flies fast, so throw it towards the other person's hands and never towards their face. The bright colours help you follow it on grass or sand.

Throwing and catching games for the whole family

With one toy you can invent plenty of games: pass it round in a circle, count how many catches in a row you make without dropping it, throw it as a ball to the little ones and as a disc to the older ones, or mark out an area in the sand for it to land in. It needs no batteries or charging, so it goes in the day-trip rucksack and is ready to play.

How to throw a frisbee ball

  1. Press it flat

Put the ball on a flat surface or between your hands and press from above until it is flat and holds.

  2. Hold it like a disc

Grip the edge with your thumb on top and fingers underneath, with your arm across the front of your body.

  3. Throw with a flick of the wrist

Stretch your arm out towards your partner and let go with a flick of the wrist so it spins flat.

  4. Catch it however it comes

Be ready to take it with both hands, whether it arrives as a disc or has already opened into a ball.

Cleaning and care

  • After the beach, rinse it in fresh water to remove sand from the joints and let it dry open.
  • Clean it with water and a little mild soap if it gets dirty; do not use solvents.
  • Store it open, as a ball, so the plastic keeps its spring.
  • Do not leave it in the sun inside the car or near sources of heat.

Frequently asked questions

How does a flying disc that turns into a ball work?

The toy is made of flexible segments with a catch in the centre. When you press it flat, the catch holds it as a disc. In flight, the plastic pushes to regain its shape until the catch lets go and it opens into a ball. How long that takes depends on how you press it and on the temperature.

From what age is this frisbee ball for children?

The manufacturer's recommended age is in the specifications table and on the packaging. Throwing it as a disc takes some coordination, so younger children usually find it easier to play with it as a ball. While they play, an adult should be nearby and the space should be large.

Can it be played with indoors?

It is designed for outdoors. As a disc it flies fast and far, and indoors it can easily hit lamps, windows or furniture. In a very large indoor space, such as a sports hall, it can be passed as a ball with gentle throws, but the disc game is for the park, the beach or the garden.

What should I do if it will not stay flat or opens straight away?

Check that the catch in the centre is clean and dry: sand or water stops it from gripping properly. Press from the centre, evenly, until you feel it hold. In the cold the plastic is stiffer and in the heat softer, so the time before it opens can vary.

Can it be used on the beach or in the water?

On the beach, yes: sand is a good place for it to land. Afterwards, rinse it in fresh water to remove sand from the joints and the catch. Whether it floats depends on the model and on how it is closed, so do not throw it into the water away from the shore, where it cannot be fetched safely.
