Read the full description
Serisia is a silicone back scrubber made for the shower. It has no rigid handle: it is a long, thin, flexible strap with a handle at each end. You pass it behind you, hold it with both hands and move it from side to side, just as you would with a towel when drying off. It is for anyone who cannot easily reach the middle of their back with a sponge, who has limited shoulder movement, or who simply prefers to wash without asking for help.
A back scrubber with handles that reaches where your hand cannot
Held at both ends, the strap rests across your back and covers the shoulder blades, the middle and the lower part. Raising and lowering your hands changes the height; pulling more on one side or the other lets you focus wherever you like. The handles have room for your fingers and do not slip even when wet and soapy.
A two-sided silicone back scrubber
One side is covered in short, soft silicone bristles that work up a lather with your shower gel and scrub gently. The other has rounded, more widely spaced nubs that give a pleasant massage feeling as they pass. You can use one side to soap up and the other to rinse, or stick with whichever feels more comfortable.
A silicone back sponge that dries straight away
Unlike a sponge or a cloth mitt, silicone does not soak up water. Just rinse it under the tap and hang it from one handle so it drains and dries quickly. Because it is thin, you can roll it up and pack it in your gym bag or suitcase.
How to wash your back on your own with the scrubber
Wet the strap and add gel
Put a little shower gel on the bristle side and rub it with your hands to work up a lather.
Pass it behind you
Hold one handle in each hand and place the strap across your back, over one shoulder or under your arms.
Move it from side to side
Pull with one hand and then the other, without pressing, and move up and down to cover your whole back.
Rinse and hang up
Rinse yourself and rinse the scrubber under running water too. Hang it from one handle to dry.
Cleaning and care
- Rinse the scrubber well after each use so no soap is left between the bristles.
- Every so often, wash it with hot water and a little mild soap.
- Store it hanging up or somewhere airy, not bunched up in a damp corner.
- It is for personal use: each person in the household should have their own.
Frequently asked questions
How can I wash my own back in the shower?
With a strap scrubber like this one it is simple: put gel on the bristles, pass the strap behind you holding it by both handles and move it from side to side, raising and lowering your hands. That way you reach the shoulder blades and the middle of the back, which are usually out of reach with an ordinary sponge.
Which is better, a back brush with a handle or a strap scrubber?
It depends on how you move. A handled brush is used with one hand, but reaching some areas means twisting your arm a lot. A strap is used with both hands and covers the width of your back with a more natural movement, similar to drying off with a towel. Being flat, it also takes up less space.
Does a silicone back sponge hold on to moisture?
Much less than a sponge or a cloth mitt, because silicone does not absorb water. If you rinse it well after each shower and leave it hanging from one handle somewhere airy, it drains and dries straight away. Every so often, wash it with hot water and a little mild soap.
Can it be used on other parts of the body?
Yes, you can use it on your legs, arms or the soles of your feet, always gently. Avoid the face and areas of thinner or sensitive skin, and do not use it on wounds, sunburn or irritated skin. If your skin looks red, scrub less or use the nubbed side.
Is it suitable for people with limited shoulder movement?
It may feel more comfortable than a sponge, because you do not need to bring your hand to the middle of your back: you just hold the handles and move your arms to the sides. Even so, it is best to try the movement calmly at the start and not to force any movement that feels uncomfortable.
