What's in the box

- 3 spare sediment cartridges for the handle of the Aqualixis shower head
Read the full description
This pack holds three spare cartridges for the Aqualixis filter shower head. It is for anyone who already has the shower head at home, or is ordering it now, and wants the next filter to hand: when the cartridge in the handle looks dark, you open the handle, change the cartridge and are back to your shower in a moment, without waiting for an order.
Spare cartridges for the Aqualixis shower head
They are the same cartridge the Aqualixis shower head comes fitted with from the factory, with the same shape and the same size, so it goes into the handle without adapters. Each shower head already has its own fitted and comes with spare cartridges in the box; this pack is for having more to hand, or for the second and third time a change is due.
They are made for the Aqualixis handle. Other brands' cartridges come in other sizes, and these do not fit other shower heads either.
A sediment filter for the shower, and what it does not do
Inside, each cartridge is a fibre the water passes through before it reaches the head. Grit, rust flakes and other particles carried by the pipes stay in it, especially in older flats or after the water has been cut off. It is a particle filter: it does not soften the water, it does not remove dissolved limescale or chlorine and it does not change what is in the water.
How often to change the shower filter
It depends on the water in your home and on how many showers are taken a day. The handle has a long window through which you see the cartridge without taking anything apart: new, it is white, and with use it takes on the colour of what it holds back. When it looks dark, or you notice less water coming out than at first, it is time to fit a new one. The specification table gives the approximate interval.
How to change the cartridge in the shower head
Turn the water off
Turn the shower tap off and let the last drops run out of the head.
Open the handle
Unscrew by hand the part of the handle that holds the cartridge, with no tools and without forcing it.
Change the cartridge
Take the used cartridge out and fit a new one facing the same way as the old one.
Close it and test
Screw the handle back on until it is firm and turn the tap on. Let the water run for a few seconds before you shower.
How to store the spare cartridges
Keep the cartridges you are not using in their wrapping, somewhere dry and out of the sun, ideally outside the bathroom if it fills with steam. The used cartridge goes in the general waste: it is a fibre that has held back dirt and it is not washed to be fitted again.
Frequently asked questions
Do these cartridges fit any filter shower head?
No. They are the cartridges for the Aqualixis shower head, with the shape and size of its handle. Other brands' shower filters use cartridges of other sizes, so these do not fit them, and theirs do not fit Aqualixis.
How often should the shower filter be changed?
It depends on the water in your area and how much the shower is used. Look through the window in the handle: when the cartridge looks dark or you notice less water coming out, it is time to change it. The specification table gives an approximate interval as a guide.
Does the spare cartridge remove limescale or chlorine?
No. It is a sediment filter: it holds back grit, rust flakes and other particles carried by the pipes. It does not soften the water, it does not remove dissolved limescale or chlorine and it does not change what is in the water.
How do you change the cartridge in the shower head?
With the tap off, unscrew by hand the part of the handle that holds the cartridge, take out the used one and put a new one in facing the same way. Screw it back until it is firm and let the water run for a few seconds. No tools are needed.
Can the used cartridge be washed and fitted again?
It is not a good idea. What it holds back stays inside the fibre, and a rinse under the tap only cleans the surface, so the water would still come out more slowly. When it looks full, swap it for a new one and put the used one in the general waste.
