Read the full description
Boriso is a cordless grass trimmer: a telescopic shaft with the motor at the bottom, a head that spins plastic blades and a removable battery in the handle. It deals with what the mower leaves half done: edges along paths and flower beds, the grass around trees, lamp posts and walls, corners between fences and the gaps between paving slabs. It is for domestic gardens and patios; it is not a lawnmower or a brush cutter for scrub.
A grass trimmer with a telescopic handle that adjusts to your height
The shaft lengthens or shortens and locks with its clamp, so you work with a straight back and relaxed arms. The front handle helps you guide the head with both hands, and the head tilts to trim flat at ground level or upright along an edge.
A cordless grass trimmer: no cable to cut through
The battery slots into the handle and comes out to be charged indoors. There is no cable to drag across the lawn or risk cutting, and no petrol or pull-starting either. Take the trimmer to the bottom of the garden, the driveway or a vegetable patch without looking for a socket.
A grass trimmer with replaceable plastic blades
Instead of line, the head carries plastic blades that spin and cut the grass. If they touch a wall, a stone or a kerb, the plastic gives way rather than bouncing back hard, although it wears down. When a blade is worn or broken you change it by hand, with the battery out; spares come in the box. They are not made for brambles or woody stems.
How to trim lawn edges
Charge and assemble
Charge the battery fully, fit the guard over the head and slot the battery in.
Adjust the handle
Extend it until the head sits flat on the ground with your arms relaxed, then lock it.
Prepare the area
Put on eye protection, long trousers and closed shoes, clear away stones and check that there are no people or animals nearby.
Cut a little at a time
Work with the tips of the blades in gentle passes, and go down in several layers if the grass is long.
Shape the edge
Tilt the head and follow the edge slowly, with the guard between the blades and your feet.
Care and maintenance
Always take the battery out before cleaning the head or changing the blades. Wearing gloves, brush off the grass stuck to the head and the guard, and check that no blade is cracked. Do not hose it down. Keep the battery somewhere dry, out of direct sun and free of frost, and recharge it now and then during the winter.
Frequently asked questions
Can it replace a lawnmower?
No. It is a trimmer to finish what the mower cannot reach: edges, corners, around trees and walls, and small patches of grass. On a large lawn it would be slow and the battery would not last for the whole job. If your garden is just a small strip of grass, it may be enough.
Does it work as a light cordless brush cutter for long grass?
For long grass and soft weeds in small areas, yes, cutting in several passes from the top down. It is not intended for brambles, reeds, scrub or woody stems: the plastic blades wear quickly and the motor slows down. For that you need a brush cutter with a metal blade.
How often do the plastic blades need changing?
It depends on how often you touch walls, kerbs or stones. Check them before each use and replace them as soon as they are worn, cracked or broken, always with the battery out and wearing gloves. Spares come in the box; ask us about the availability of more compatible blades.
How long does the trimmer battery last?
It depends on how long and dense the grass is: on edges trimmed often it lasts longer than on overgrown grass. The approximate running time and the charging time are in the specifications. If you plan to trim a lot in one go, charge the battery the day before.
How do you adjust the trimmer with telescopic handle?
With the battery out, open the handle clamp, lengthen or shorten it and close it firmly again. The right height is the one that leaves the head flat on the ground with your back straight and your arms relaxed. Position the front handle where your hand reaches it without stretching.
What protection do I need to use it?
Eye protection, long trousers and closed shoes, because the head can throw stones and debris. Do not use it with people, animals or children nearby, keep it away from cables and take the battery out before cleaning it. Trim during the hours allowed by your local noise rules.
