Read the full description

Darisa is an electric hair straightening brush. It is shaped like a paddle brush, but its bristles and the base they rise from heat up, so as you run it through dry hair you straighten it while you detangle it. It is designed for anyone who wants a sleek finish day to day without clamping strand after strand with a straightening iron, and for anyone who sometimes prefers soft waves at the ends.

An electric straightening brush you use like an ordinary brush

The movement is the usual one: take a section, put the brush in near the roots and draw it slowly down to the ends. The bristles comb the hair and the heat from the base leaves it straight. Each bristle ends in a protective tip that stays cooler, so you can work closer to the roots with more confidence, although the brush should never rest on the skin.

A straightening and waving brush: sleek, waves or lift

If you turn your wrist inwards or outwards when you reach the ends and hold the brush there for a moment, the section keeps a soft wave. If instead of drawing straight down you lift the section from the roots, you gain some volume on top. It does not replace curling tongs for defined curls: its territory is a natural sleek look and loose waves.

Adjustable temperature to suit your hair

With the buttons on the handle you choose the heat level, and the display shows which one is active. Fine, coloured or bleached hair usually manages with the lower levels; thick or very wavy hair may need a higher one. The exact temperature range is listed in the specifications table.

Straightening brush or straightening iron: which suits you

An iron presses the section between two plates and gives a more polished, longer-lasting sleek finish. The brush works faster on wide sections and leaves straight hair with more movement, less flattened. Many people use the iron when they want a very sleek finish and the brush to touch up on the other days.

How to use a straightening brush step by step

  1. Dry and detangle

Hair must be completely dry. If you use a heat protectant, apply it beforehand and let it dry.

  2. Choose the temperature

Switch the brush on, start at a low level and wait until the display shows it has reached the chosen heat.

  3. Work in sections

Hold the rest of your hair back with clips and take sections about as wide as the brush.

  4. Brush slowly

Go in near the roots without touching the skin and draw slowly down to the ends. Repeat if needed.

  5. Finish the ends

For waves, turn the brush at the end of the section and release it. Let the hair cool before running your fingers through it.

Cleaning and care

  • Unplug it and wait until it has cooled completely before cleaning or storing it.
  • Remove any hairs left between the bristles after each use.
  • Wipe the bristles and base with a dry cloth; never wet or immerse it.
  • Do not wind the cord tightly around the handle.

Frequently asked questions

Straightening brush or straightening iron: which straightens more?

The iron, because it presses the section between two plates. The brush leaves a more natural straight look with movement, and it is faster on wide sections. If your hair is very curly or you want a very polished finish, you may prefer an iron; for an easy everyday sleek look, the brush is usually enough.

Can the straightening brush be used on wet hair?

No. It is a heated brush, not a drying brush: always use it on hair that is completely dry and detangled. On damp hair, direct heat is harsher and the straight finish does not set. As with any electrical appliance, do not use it near the shower, the bath or a basin with water.

How do I make waves with a straightening and waving brush?

Draw the brush down the section as if to straighten it and, when you reach the ends, turn your wrist inwards or outwards and hold the brush for a moment before letting go. You will get a loose wave. For something more defined, use thin sections and let them cool without touching them.

Which temperature should I choose for my hair type?

Always start at the lowest level and test on one section. Fine, coloured or bleached hair usually stays at the lower levels; thick or very wavy hair may need one or two more. If a level already leaves it straight, do not go higher: less heat is always preferable.

Does a straightening comb work on short hair?

It works if the hair is long enough for the brush to travel along it, roughly from a short bob upwards. On very short hair it is hard to keep the bristles away from the scalp, so take extra care or use another tool. On long hair it works just as well, working in sections.

How long does it take to heat up, and when can I put it away?

It heats up quickly; the display tells you when it has reached the chosen level, so there is no need to guess. To put it away, unplug it and wait until the base and bristles are cool to the touch. In the meantime, leave it on a heat-resistant surface, out of the reach of children.
