Lurisen is a battery angle grinder for anyone who does DIY at home and needs to cut, grind or polish without relying on a socket. It will cut a pipe, trim a threaded rod, take the rust off a railing or dress the edge of a metal sheet. It is made for jobs around the home, workshop and garden, not for continuous building-site use.
A cordless grinder that goes where the job is
With no cable you can use it at the bottom of the garden, at the top of a ladder or in a parking space without extension leads getting tangled. The battery comes out with a click and charges separately, so you can leave it charging while you prepare the workpiece. The voltage, battery capacity and approximate runtime are listed in the specifications table.
An angle grinder for cutting, grinding and polishing
What the grinder does depends on the disc you fit. With a thin cutting disc you cut metal pipes, profiles and rods; with a grinding disc you remove burrs and dress welds; with a wire brush or a flap disc you clean off rust and old paint. Always choose discs with the diameter and arbor size given in the specifications.
A small grinder you hold with both hands
Its compact body fits in the hand and the side handle screws in on the left or the right, so you always have one hand on the body and the other on the handle. The disc guard turns towards you so that sparks and fragments fly away from you. The switch has a lock to prevent it starting when you pick it up.
How to cut metal with the grinder
Prepare the workpiece
Hold it in a vice or with clamps and mark the cutting line.
Fit the disc and the guard
With the battery removed, fit the disc using the flange spanner and check that the guard is secure.
Put on your protective equipment
Glasses or a face shield, gloves, hearing protection and a mask before you start.
Start it and let it spin up
Wait for the disc to reach speed before touching the workpiece, and feed it in without forcing.
Release and wait
When you finish, release the switch and do not put the grinder down until the disc has stopped.
Care and maintenance
Remove the battery before cleaning the tool or changing the disc. Blow or brush the dust out of the air vents after each use and check that the disc has no cracks or uneven wear; if it does, replace it. Store the tool and battery somewhere dry, away from heat, and charge the battery with the supplied charger and no other.
Frequently asked questions
Which angle grinder discs can I use?
Discs with the diameter and arbor size given in the specifications table, and whose marked maximum speed is equal to or higher than the tool's. For metal use metal cutting or grinding discs; for stone or tiles, discs made for those materials. Never fit saw blades for wood.
How long does the battery of a cordless grinder last?
It depends a great deal on the job: cutting a thick piece uses much more than smoothing a burr. The approximate runtime and charging time for this model are in the specifications table. For long jobs it helps to have a second battery charged and to take breaks so the tool does not overheat.
Can you cut metal with a battery grinder?
Yes, with a metal cutting disc you can cut pipes, profiles, rods and sheets of the thicknesses usual in DIY. Always hold the workpiece in a vice or with clamps, let the disc do the work without forcing it, and never use a cutting disc on its side.
What protection do I need to use an angle grinder?
Safety glasses or a face shield, work gloves, hearing protection and a dust mask, plus clothing with nothing loose and closed shoes. The disc guard must always be fitted. Work with both hands on the tool and read the manual before you start.
How do you change the grinder disc?
Remove the battery first. Press the spindle lock button, loosen the flange nut with the spanner supplied, change the disc and tighten the nut again. Before using it, check that the disc turns freely without rubbing and that the guard is still firmly fixed.
Is a small grinder good for removing rust?
Yes. With a wire cup brush or a flap disc you can clean rust and old paint off railings, tools or metal garden furniture. Work with the piece, without pressing hard, and always wear glasses or a face shield, because the brush wires can come loose.
