Madalis is a compact cordless electric screwdriver, black with a red switch, that is kept in its own carry case alongside an assortment of bits. It is made for anyone who assembles a piece of furniture now and then, changes a hinge or opens the battery cover on a toy, and would rather not do it all by wrist power. It is not a drill: it drives and removes screws, and that is all.
A cordless screwdriver with a case: tool and bits in one place
What usually goes wrong with small tools is not the tool but finding the bit you need. Here everything travels together: the screwdriver sits in its recess in the case and the bits stay in view, each in its own slot. You open it, choose the one that fits snugly in the screw head and start. When you finish, every piece goes back where it belongs and the case fits in a drawer or on a shelf. The exact contents of the assortment are listed in the specifications table.
Straight or pistol grip, depending on where the screw is
The handle pivots and locks in two positions. In line, the screwdriver is long and slim and reaches the back of a wardrobe, a corner between two panels or the space behind a drawer. Angled, it becomes a pistol grip: your hand pushes from behind the screw and the switch sits under your finger, which is the most comfortable way to work when there is a long row of screws in front of you.
A screwdriver for furniture, hinges and socket plates
The switch has two directions: one drives and the other removes, so taking a bookcase apart is as simple as putting it together. It suits the screws in flat-pack furniture, kitchen door hinges, the cover plates on sockets and switches, and the battery covers on toys.
It has its limits. It does not make holes in walls or replace a drill, and a seized or rusty screw is better loosened by hand beforehand, with an ordinary screwdriver, leaving the motor to do the rest.
A small electric screwdriver with an LED light and USB-C charging
At the front, next to the bit, there is an LED work light that shines right on the spot where you are working, which is welcome inside a cabinet or under a table. The battery is inside the body and charges through a USB-C port, the same kind of connector many phones use. There is no cable in the way while you work. Voltage, capacity and charging time are in the specifications table.
How to use it
Charge it before you start using it
Connect it by USB-C until it is fully charged and read the manufacturer's manual.
Choose the bit
Take from the case the one that fits the screw head with no play and push it into the bit holder.
Set the handle
Leave it straight for narrow gaps or pivot it to a pistol grip to work face on.
Drive with the bit well seated
Keep the screwdriver in line with the screw, push gently and press the side of the switch that drives or the side that removes.
Stop in time
Release the switch when the head touches the surface; in chipboard, the last tightening is better done by hand.
Care and maintenance
Wipe it with a dry cloth after use and blow the sawdust out of the bit holder. Do not get it wet or charge it somewhere damp. Keep it in the case with the bits in place and, if it is going to spend months unused, give it a charge now and then so the battery does not sit empty. A bit with rounded edges slips and damages screw heads: replace it with another of the same type.
Frequently asked questions
Can a cordless electric screwdriver make holes in a wall?
No. It is a tool for driving and removing screws, with a slow, controlled turn. To drill into brick, concrete or metal you need a drill, which spins much faster and has a different kind of force. It can drive a screw into a wall plug that is already in place, as long as the screw goes in without forcing.
Does it work as a screwdriver for flat-pack furniture?
Yes, that is its most common use. It drives the screws in side panels, drawer runners, hinges and handles. In chipboard it is best to release the switch as soon as the head touches the board and do the last tightening by hand, because the material is soft and the thread strips easily.
What comes with the cordless screwdriver and its case?
The screwdriver, an assortment of bits for the screw types most often found at home, and the case that holds everything. The exact list of bits and accessories is in the specifications table and in the box contents section. If a bit wears out, replace it with another that has the same fitting, which is also shown in the table.
How do you charge a screwdriver with USB-C charging?
It connects through its USB-C port to a phone charger, a computer or a power bank. Battery capacity and charging time are listed in the specifications table. Charge it fully before you start using it, on a surface that will not burn, and do not leave it plugged in all night.
Can it cope with a rusty or very tight screw?
That is not what it is for. A seized screw needs a short, strong effort that a compact screwdriver does not give, and it is easy to damage the head. Loosen it by hand beforehand with a screwdriver that fits well, a quarter turn, and let the motor take it out the rest of the way. The same goes for final tightening.
Why does the handle pivot on a small electric screwdriver?
To reach more places with the same tool. Straight, it fits into narrow gaps such as the back of a wardrobe or the inside of a drawer. As a pistol grip, your hand pushes in line with the screw and you work more comfortably on a panel lying flat or on a door. Changing from one position to the other takes a moment.
