Read the full description
Tarisis is an electric foot warmer shaped like a large plush boot: you slip both feet inside, plug it in, and a flexible heating element spread across the base and the sides gives off warmth. It is for people whose feet get cold in winter while they work at a desk, read on the sofa or watch television, and who would rather warm just that area than turn up the heating for the whole house.
An electric foot warmer with a plush lining
The inside is lined with soft plush that wraps around your feet and holds the warmth. The heating element sits beneath the lining, so you do not touch any hot part directly. It warms up quickly and, as it is a closed pouch, the heat stays inside instead of escaping into the room. It takes a wide range of shoe sizes; the exact inner size is in the specifications table.
An electric foot heater with several levels
A controller on the cable lets you choose between several temperature levels and switch it off. The usual approach is to start on a high level for a few minutes and then turn it down to a gentler one for the rest of the time. It has an automatic shut-off, so it does not stay on if you get up and forget about it. As it heats just a small space, it usually uses a good deal less power than a heater; the wattage is given in the specifications table.
A foot warmer boot for the desk or the sofa
Being soft and light, you can place it under your desk, in front of the sofa or beside the bed for a spell of reading before sleep, and put it away in a cupboard when spring comes. The base is flat so it sits well on the floor. You can use it in socks or barefoot, always with dry feet.
How to use an electric foot warmer
Place it on the floor
Put it on a flat, dry surface away from liquids, with the cable neither trodden on nor kinked.
Put your feet in
Do so with dry feet, in socks or barefoot, and close the opening if it has a zip or flap.
Plug in and choose the level
Plug it in and select a level on the controller; start high and turn it down once you feel the warmth.
Switch off when you finish
Switch it off with the controller and unplug it before taking your feet out and putting it away.
Washing and care
- Unplug it and detach the controller before washing anything.
- Take out the plush lining and wash it according to the label; let it dry fully before putting it back.
- Do not put the part containing the heating element in water or the washing machine; wipe it with a barely damp cloth.
- Do not fold it sharply or stick pins in it, and check the cable before each season.
Frequently asked questions
How much power does an electric foot warmer use?
Little compared with a heater, because it warms just the inside of the boot rather than the whole room. The real cost depends on the wattage, the level you choose and how many hours you keep it on. The wattage of this model is in the specifications table, and with it you can work out the cost on your own tariff.
Is the foot warmer washable?
The plush lining comes out and is washed according to the instructions on its label. The part containing the heating element must not go in water or the washing machine: wipe its outside with a barely damp cloth. Before washing anything, unplug it and detach the controller, and do not use it again until everything is dry.
What shoe size fits in the foot warmer boot?
It is designed for both feet of an adult and takes a wide range of sizes, in socks or barefoot. The maximum recommended size and the inner measurements appear in the specifications table. If you wear a very large size, check there before buying.
Can I sleep with the electric foot heater on?
No. Like any heating appliance, you should use it while awake and switch it off before sleeping. You can keep it beside the bed to warm your feet while you read, but switch it off, unplug it and move it away before you fall asleep. The automatic shut-off is a help, not a substitute for switching it off yourself.
Can anyone use it?
It is not for children or for people who cannot feel heat properly or switch it off on their own. If you have diabetes, reduced feeling in your feet or a circulatory condition, are pregnant or have any medical condition, ask a healthcare professional beforehand whether it is suitable for you.
