Read the full description

Vedalia is a handheld shower head with a filter inside the handle. It replaces the one you have now: it screws onto the shower hose, lets you change the spray pattern and holds a cartridge that retains sediment particles in the water, such as grit or small bits from the pipes, before they come out of the nozzles. It is made for anyone who wants to renew their shower head without building work or calling anyone in.

Handheld shower head with a sediment filter in the handle

Water enters at the base of the handle, passes through the cartridge and comes out of the head. Along the way, the cartridge holds back suspended particles, which over time you can see building up in it through the clear handle. It is a sediment filter: it retains particles, it does not treat the water or change its composition.

That is why the cartridge is a wearing part. When you see it darken or notice less water coming out, it is time to change it. How often depends on the water where you live and how much the shower is used at home.

Shower head with several spray settings

Turning the ring on the head lets you choose between several spray patterns: a wide, rain-style one for every day; a more concentrated one; and a pulsing one. With the same water supply, a narrower spray feels stronger, which is handy in homes where the water arrives with little push.

The concentrated spray also comes in useful for rinsing the shower tray, the screen or the bath when you finish.

How to change the shower head without tools

It has the standard thread used on household showers in Spain, so it screws onto most hoses by hand. Unscrew the old shower head, check that the rubber washer is in place and screw on the new one without forcing it. You need no spanner or plumber's tape if the washer seats properly.

How to fit the shower head with filter

  1. Remove the old shower head

With the tap off, unscrew your current shower head from the end of the hose.

  2. Fit the washer

Check that the rubber washer is inside the thread of the new shower head.

  3. Screw it on by hand

Screw the shower head onto the hose until it is firm, without overtightening.

  4. Let the water run

Turn on the tap and let the water run for a moment so the cartridge settles and the air comes out.

  5. Choose the spray

Turn the ring on the head to the spray pattern you prefer.

Care and maintenance

After showering, let the shower head drain hanging in its holder. Now and then, wipe the nozzle face with a damp cloth so the holes do not clog. To change the cartridge, unscrew the base of the handle, take out the used one, fit a new one the same way round and screw it back on. Do not use scourers or abrasive products on the finish.

Frequently asked questions

What does the shower head filter hold back?

Suspended sediment particles, such as grit or small bits carried along by the pipes. It is a mechanical filter: it does not treat the water or change its composition. With use you will see the cartridge darken through the handle, a sign that it is doing its job and that it will soon be time to change it.

How often does the replacement cartridge need changing?

It depends on the water where you live and how many people use the shower. Change it when you see it clearly darkened or notice less water coming out than at the start. The manufacturer's guideline interval is in the specifications; with water that carries a lot of grit, it will be due sooner.

Does it fit any shower hose?

It has the standard thread used by the vast majority of household shower hoses in Spain and Portugal, so it fits almost all of them. If your hose has a special connection, for example on some branded shower columns, check the specifications beforehand. The hose is not included.

Does it increase the water pressure?

It cannot increase the pressure or flow your plumbing supplies. What it does is spread the water in different ways: with the concentrated spray, the same water comes out through fewer holes and feels stronger. If you notice the spray weakening over time, check the cartridge.

How do I clean the shower head with filter?

Simply wipe the nozzle face with a damp cloth from time to time and let it drain hanging up after each shower. If a hole gets blocked, rub it gently with your finger or a soft brush. Do not use scourers or abrasive products, which can scratch the chrome finish.
