Read the full description

Velenia is a plush-feel children's sleeping bag for children from the age given by the manufacturer. On the outside it is shaped like an animal, with the head as a pillow at the top, and inside it is a sleeping bag with a zip. When it is not in use, it rolls up into a soft pillow that the child can carry. It is made for sleeping at the grandparents', going to a sleepover or snuggling up on the sofa to watch a film.

A plush sleeping bag for kids, soft to the touch

The outside is a short-pile fabric that is pleasant to touch, and the inside is just as soft, with no rough seams on show. The filling is light, just enough to feel cosy without weighing much. It is not a camping bag for cold nights outdoors: it is meant for use indoors, on a bed, a mattress or the sofa.

A sleeping bag that turns into a pillow

When you have finished, lay the bag out, roll it from the feet towards the head and fasten it with its strap. The animal's head stays at the front and the whole thing becomes a pillow shaped like a soft toy. That way it takes up little room in the wardrobe and can sit on the bed like another cushion.

A 2-in-1 children's sleeping bag with a zip

Opened out, the head section acts as a pillow and the body is the bag. The zip runs along the side, so the child can get in sitting down and an adult helps to close it. The zip pull sits on the outside so it is easy to find.

A sleeping bag for sleepovers and weekends away

As it rolls up into a pillow, the child can carry it under one arm to a friend's house, to the grandparents' or to a film night in the living room. If you want it for nap time at nursery, ask the nursery beforehand whether they accept this kind of bag.

How to use it and roll it up

  1. Unroll it

Undo the strap and lay the bag out on a bed, a mattress or the sofa, with the animal's head at the top.

  2. Open the zip

Undo it fully so the child can get in comfortably and rest their head on the pillow.

  3. Close it with help

An adult does up the zip and checks that no clothing or skin is caught.

  4. Roll it up afterwards

Zip it closed, roll it from the feet towards the head and fasten it with the strap.

How to wash a children's sleeping bag

  • Always follow the care label sewn into the bag.
  • Close the zip and turn it inside out before putting it in the washing machine.
  • Use a gentle programme, with detergent for delicates and not too much softener.
  • Let it dry flat in the shade before rolling it up and putting it away.

Frequently asked questions

From what age can this children's sleeping bag be used?

From the age the manufacturer gives on the label and in the specifications table, and as long as the child fits comfortably within the recommended height. It is not designed for babies or for use in a cot: there are dedicated baby sleeping bags for them.

How does the sleeping bag turn into a pillow?

Close the zip, lay the bag face down and roll it from the feet towards the head, keeping it fairly tight. Then wrap the strap around it and fasten it. The animal's head stays at the front and the whole thing becomes a pillow that is easy to carry or leave on the bed.

Is it suitable for camping?

It is not a camping bag. It is designed for use indoors, on a bed, a mattress or the sofa. It does not have the protection against cold or damp of an outdoor sleeping bag, so for sleeping in a tent or outdoors it is better to choose a proper camping bag.

How do you wash a plush children's sleeping bag?

Follow the label sewn into the bag. In general, it is best to close the zip, turn it inside out and wash it on a gentle programme with cool or lukewarm water. Let it dry flat in the shade, and do not roll it up until it is completely dry so it does not pick up a smell.

Can it be taken to nursery for nap time?

It depends on the nursery. Some nurseries have their own rules about sleeping bags, blankets or cushions for nap time, and others prefer their own bedding. Ask the nursery beforehand and check that the child is within the age and height the manufacturer recommends for this bag.
