Aqualixis is a handheld shower head in metallic grey with a round head that brings together in one piece a silicone bristle cap to massage your scalp as you wash your hair, several sprays, a pause button and a filter cartridge on view in the handle. It is for anyone who wants to swap the head on their shower hose for a more complete one, with no building work and no tools.
Massaging shower head with a silicone brush
The cap is a ring of soft silicone bristles that fits over the spray plate. The water keeps flowing between the bristles, so you run the head over your scalp as you rinse out the shampoo and feel a gentle massage, without picking up another brush. When you do not want it, it comes off and you have an ordinary handheld shower head.
Several sprays, from a fine mist to a concentrated jet
You change the spray on the head itself: a very fine mist, pleasant for warming up; a normal spray for every day; and a concentrated one for getting the foam out of long hair or rinsing the shower tray. The specifications say how many sprays this model has. None of them raises the pressure at which water arrives: they change how it is spread as it comes out.

On the handle, just below the head, there is a pause button, the one marked stop. Press it and the spray stops while you lather up; press it again and the water flows once more without touching the tap. It is not a shut-off valve: the hose stays under pressure, so turn the tap off as usual when you finish.
A sediment filter you can see through the window in the handle
Inside the handle there is a filter cartridge, and a long window lets you see it without taking anything apart. The water passes through it before reaching the head, and grit, rust flakes and other particles carried along the pipes stay in it. It is white when new; with use it takes on the colour of what it holds back.
To change it, you unscrew the handle and fit a new cartridge. It is a particle filter: it does not soften the water or change its composition.
How to fit and use the shower head with filter and brush
Remove your current shower head
Turn off the tap and unscrew the shower head from the end of the hose by hand.
Fit the washer and screw it on
Check that the rubber washer is in the thread and screw the new shower head on by hand, firm but without forcing it.
Let the water run
Open the tap for a moment without standing under it, so the cartridge soaks through and the air comes out, and check that the joint does not drip.
Choose the spray and the cap
Pick the spray on the head and fit the bristle cap when you are going to wash your hair.
Pause and turn off
Use the button on the handle to stop while you lather up, and always turn the tap off when you finish.
Care and maintenance
After washing your hair, take off the cap, rinse it and let it air dry. Now and then wipe the spray plate with a damp cloth; if limescale marks the holes, rub it with a soft brush and diluted vinegar. Change the cartridge when it looks loaded or you notice less water coming out, and do not use abrasive products on the grey finish.

Does this shower head with filter remove limescale or chlorine?
No. Its cartridge is a sediment filter: it holds back grit, rust flakes and other particles carried along the pipes. It does not soften the water, it does not remove limescale or chlorine and it does not change the water's composition. Limescale that marks the spray plate is cleaned off now and then with a soft brush and diluted vinegar.
What is the silicone brush on the shower head for?
It is a cap of soft silicone bristles that fits over the head. As you rinse out the shampoo, you run the shower head over your scalp and the bristles give it a gentle massage, with the water flowing between them. It is a comfort accessory, not a treatment, and it comes off when you do not want it.
How does the stop button on the shower head work?
When you press it, the spray stops so you can lather up without touching the tap; press it again and the water comes back. Does it fit any shower hose?
It has the standard handheld shower thread, the one on most household shower hoses in Spain and Portugal, and screws on without tools. Before you order it, check that your current shower head unscrews from the hose. The hose and the wall bracket are not included: you keep the ones you already have.
How do you clean the massaging shower head?
Take the bristle cap off after washing your hair, rinse it under the tap and let it air dry. Clean the spray plate with a damp cloth and, if there is limescale in the holes, with a soft brush and diluted vinegar. Avoid scourers and abrasive products, which scratch the grey finish.
