Read the full description
Bovela is a portable, foldable mini washing machine for washing small loads separately without running the main washing machine at home. It is designed for families with babies who want to wash bibs, bodysuits and socks on their own, for anyone living in a small flat or student accommodation, and for taking on holiday or camping. It runs on mains power through its cable and adapter, and when you have finished it folds flat to go in a cupboard or a drawer.
A portable washing machine for baby clothes and small items
The tub takes a small load of light clothing: bodysuits, bibs, little hats, socks, underwear or a couple of T-shirts. It is useful when you want to wash those items apart from the rest of the laundry, or when there are just a few clothes and filling a full-size machine is not worth it. The exact water and clothing capacity is in the specifications table.
How a mini washing machine works
In the base there is a small motor that swirls the water in the tub, switching direction to move the clothes around. You add the water and the detergent, choose the programme with the button and the machine does the rest. It does not heat the water or rinse by itself: to rinse, you drain it, refill it with clean water and run a short cycle again.
A foldable mini washing machine that takes up very little room
The walls of the tub are made of a flexible material and fold down like an accordion. Folded, the machine is low and flat, so it fits in a kitchen cupboard, a car boot or under the bed. To use it, pull the edges upwards until the walls stand straight.
A mini washing machine for travel and small spaces
As it is light and folds down, you can take it in the caravan, to the beach house or to a student flat. It needs a socket or a compatible power point, and a sink, a shower tray or a drain nearby to empty it through the hose.
How to use the mini washing machine step by step
Unfold and position
Open it on a flat, stable surface near a drain, with the hose closed.
Fill and add detergent
Pour in water up to the level mark, at the temperature the manual gives, and a small dose of detergent.
Load the clothes and close
Do not go over the maximum load: the clothes need room to move. Put the lid on.
Choose the programme
Plug in the cable with dry hands and press the button to choose the programme.
Drain and rinse
Unplug it, drain the water through the hose, refill with clean water and run a short rinse cycle.
Cleaning and maintenance
- Always unplug it before draining or cleaning it.
- Rinse the tub with clean water and dry it with a cloth before folding it.
- Clean the base with a barely damp cloth; never immerse it or hold it under the tap.
- Store it folded, dry and with the lid on, away from heat.
Frequently asked questions
How does a portable mini washing machine work?
A small motor in the base swirls the water in the tub and changes direction to move the clothes. You fill the tub with water and detergent, choose the programme and, when it finishes, drain it through the hose. To rinse, refill it with clean water and run a short cycle.
What clothes can go in a portable washing machine for baby clothes?
Small, light items: bodysuits, bibs, little hats, socks, underwear, a couple of T-shirts or tea towels. It is not suitable for large towels, jeans, duvets or bulky clothing. Always follow each garment's care label and do not exceed the maximum load given in the manual.
Does it spin or dry the clothes?
This mini washing machine washes by moving the water, but it is not a dryer. When it finishes, the clothes come out wet: wring them out by hand and hang them up. If the model includes a spin basket, it will be listed in the specifications table and in the box contents.
Can it be used with hot water?
The machine does not heat the water; you decide what water to fill it with. The collapsible tub takes cold or lukewarm water up to the maximum temperature given in the manual, which is also listed in the specifications table. Do not use boiling water, as it can warp the material and scald.
Does it work as a mini washing machine for travel or camping?
Yes, as long as you have a compatible power point and somewhere to empty the water, such as a sink or a drain. Folded, it takes up little room in the boot or the caravan. Check in the specifications table how this model is powered before you set off.
Is it safe with the water so close to the power?
It is designed to be used with water, but the manual must be followed: plug it in and unplug it with dry hands, do not exceed the water level, do not wet or immerse the base and unplug it before draining. Do not leave it running unattended or within reach of children.
