Firisis is a dryer brush for dogs and cats: a handheld device that combines a pin comb and an outlet of warm air in one piece. It is designed for people who bath their pet at home and want to comb and dry it at the same time, without juggling the family hairdryer and a brush. It is for dogs and cats with short or medium coats, and it should always be used with an adult beside the animal.
A 2-in-1 pet dryer you handle with one hand
The air comes out at the base of the pins, right where you comb. So while you brush in the direction of the coat, the warm air reaches down and the coat dries and settles neatly. As everything is in the same handle, your other hand is free to hold your pet gently, stroke it or lift a paw.
A dog hairdryer with several temperature levels
With the button on the handle you choose between several air levels, from the coolest to the warmest. The sensible approach is always to start on the lowest, test the air on the back of your hand and go up a level when needed. The device is designed to work at a moderate temperature, lower than that of a hairdryer for people. The exact levels are given in the specifications table.
A dryer brush for cats and dogs with short or medium coats
The pins have rounded tips and reach the undercoat without pressing. It works well on short or medium coats; on very long, thick or tangled coats, it is best to detangle with an ordinary comb beforehand and dry in layers. When you finish, you press the rear button, the pins retract and the collected hair is left on the surface, ready to lift off by hand.
How to dry a dog after a bath
Remove excess water
Wrap your pet in a towel and press without rubbing. The brush dries a damp coat better than a soaking one.
Test the air
Switch on at the lowest level and check the temperature on the back of your hand before bringing it near the animal.
Comb with the coat
Move the brush slowly from the neck towards the tail, without staying still on one area and without pressing hard.
Leave the face until last
Dry the head with the towel, never with the air stream, and keep the brush away from eyes, ears and muzzle.
Switch off and clean
Switch it off, unplug it and release the hair from the pins with the rear button.
Cleaning and maintenance
- Remove the hair from the pins after each use, with the device switched off and unplugged.
- Wipe the body with a dry cloth; do not wet it or hold it under the tap.
- Check that the air intake is clear of hair and dust so it does not overheat.
- Store it cool, in a dry place and out of the reach of children and pets.
Frequently asked questions
What is a dog dryer brush for?
For combing and drying your pet's coat at the same time after a bath, with a device you handle with one hand. It is a grooming tool for home use: it is not a veterinary product and does not replace a dog groomer when the coat needs cutting or professional attention.
Can you use a people hairdryer on a dog?
Many hairdryers for people blow very hot, strong air, and they also make you hold the dryer and the brush at once. A pet dryer brush works at a more moderate temperature and puts both in the same handle. Whatever device you use, always test the air on your own hand.
Does it work as a dryer brush for cats?
Yes, for cats with short or medium coats that tolerate the sound and the air. Many cats need to get used to it gradually: show it switched off, switch it on at a distance on the lowest level and bring it closer slowly. If your cat gets frightened or tries to escape, stop and dry it with a towel.
Can it be used on puppies?
No. This brush is designed for adult dogs and cats. With puppies and kittens, dry them with a soft towel in a warm room. If you have any doubt about bathing or drying a young or elderly animal, or one with skin problems, ask your vet beforehand.
Is it suitable for long-haired dogs?
It works best on short or medium coats. On long or very dense coats you can use it for finishing, but it is best to detangle with a comb beforehand, remove as much water as you can with the towel and dry in layers. For breeds with a very heavy coat, a higher-flow blaster dryer is usually more practical.
