Read the full description
Luriso is a tap-mounted water filter: a compact white body that screws onto the spout of the kitchen tap, in place of the aerator. Inside is a replaceable cartridge that the water passes through when you choose the filtered stream. It is for people who drink and cook with mains water that is already drinkable and want to take out the grit, rust flakes and other particles it sometimes picks up in the pipes. It does not make water drinkable: water that is not fit to drink is still not fit after passing through it.
Kitchen tap filter: what it holds back and what it does not
The cartridge works as a barrier: the water goes through it and the sediment and particles stay behind. You will notice it most in homes with old pipes or after a supply cut, when the water comes out with bits in it.
If the cartridge contains activated carbon, which we confirm in the specifications, it can also reduce the taste and smell of chlorine. We do not sell it as a water softener or as a water treatment system.
Tap filter with cartridge and a two-stream lever
The side lever decides which way the water comes out. In one position it passes through the cartridge and comes out filtered, to fill a glass, a jug or the pan. In the other it comes straight out, unfiltered, for washing up, rinsing or washing your hands.
Keeping the filtered stream for what you will drink or cook with means the cartridge works just when it is needed.
How to tell whether the filter fits your tap
It fits kitchen taps whose spout ends in a threaded aerator that can be unscrewed. The box contains a set of adapters for different threads, with their rubber seals, and everything is tightened by hand.
It does not fit pull-out or hose taps, sensor taps or spouts without a removable threaded aerator. Before buying, unscrew the tip of your tap and check that it has a thread.
How often to change the tap filter cartridge
The cartridge gradually loads up with what it holds back and has to be changed from time to time. How long it lasts depends on how much water you filter and on the water reaching your home; the guide interval is in the specifications. If the filtered stream weakens or the water changes taste before then, change it straight away.
To replace it, open the filter body, take out the used cartridge and fit the new one as the instructions show.
How to fit a filter to the tap
Remove the aerator
Unscrew the tip of the spout by hand. If it is stiff, grip it with a cloth. Keep the aerator in case you take the filter off one day.
Choose the adapter
Try the adapters until you find the one that screws smoothly onto your tap, and fit its rubber seal.
Screw on the filter
Offer the filter up to the adapter and tighten the nut by hand, without tools, until it sits firm and straight.
Let the water run
Turn on the cold water with the lever set to filtered and let it run for a while before you start using it, to rinse the new cartridge. Check that the joint does not drip.
Care and maintenance
Use the filtered stream with cold water: hot water can damage the cartridge, and the temperature limit is in the specifications. If you have not used it for several days, let the filtered water run for a few seconds before drinking. Clean the outside with a damp cloth, without abrasive products. If it drips at the thread, check that the seal is seated properly and tighten again by hand.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know whether the tap-mounted water filter fits my tap?
Unscrew the tip of the spout: if a threaded aerator comes off, one of the adapters included will normally fit. It cannot be fitted to pull-out or hose taps, to sensor taps or to spouts without a removable threaded aerator. The thread sizes of the adapters are listed in the specifications on this page.
Does a tap filter take away the taste of chlorine?
It depends on the cartridge. What it does in any case is hold back sediment and particles such as sand or rust flakes. If the cartridge contains activated carbon, which we confirm in the specifications, it can also reduce the taste and smell of chlorine. We publish no reduction percentages because we have no test reports to back them.
How often should the tap filter cartridge be changed?
It depends on how much water you filter and on the water that reaches your home. The guide interval is in the specifications. Change it sooner if the filtered stream weakens or you notice a change in taste. Using the normal stream for washing up and the filtered one for drinking and cooking helps it last longer.
Can a kitchen tap filter be used to drink well water?
No. It is meant for mains water that is already drinkable, and what it does is hold back particles. It does not make water fit to drink if it is not, so do not use it with well water, rainwater, tank water or water from any unmonitored source. Such water needs testing and a specific treatment.
Can the tap filter be used with hot water?
The filtered stream is for cold water: hot water can damage the cartridge. If you need hot water, move the lever to the normal stream beforehand, which does not pass through the cartridge. The maximum temperature it accepts is listed in the specifications on this page; do not go above it.
Do you need tools to fit a filter to the tap?
No. The aerator comes off by hand, you choose the adapter that fits, put in the rubber seal and tighten the filter with its nut, again by hand. If the old aerator is stuck fast with limescale, a cloth or a rubber glove helps you grip it. Do not tighten the filter with pliers, so as not to damage it.
