Read the full description
Nonora is a wall-mounted fan heater with a remote control: a long white electric unit, shaped like a small split unit, that is fixed high on the wall with a bracket and screws. Inside are a heating element and a fan; the warm air leaves through a slot along the bottom and a flap directs it downwards into the room. It is for anyone who wants to heat a bedroom, a study or a living room without an appliance on the floor. It is a heater and nothing else: it gives heat, it does not cool.
Split-style wall heater: up high and out of the way
Because it hangs high up, it leaves the floor and the furniture free: there is no appliance to trip over or move when you sweep. It is corded and plugs into an ordinary wall socket, so choose a stretch of wall with a socket nearby.
Fitting it means drilling and fixing the bracket with wall plugs and screws. Once it is up, it stays put all season: it is not a heater to carry from room to room.
Electric wall heater: the warm air comes down to you
The element heats the air and the fan pushes it through the slot that runs along the bottom. The flap tilts it downwards, towards where you are, instead of leaving it up by the ceiling.
It also has a fan mode without heat, which moves the air in the room at the temperature it already has. That mode does not cool: it stirs the air, nothing more.
Wall heater with thermostat, display and remote
The LED display on the front shows the temperature. With the remote control you raise or lower it, change mode and switch it off from the sofa or the bed, without stretching up to a unit that sits high. When the room reaches the temperature you chose, it stops heating, and starts again when it drops.
Wall heater with timer
With the timer you decide how long it runs before switching itself off. It is handy for warming the bedroom before you go to bed or the study while you have breakfast, without watching the clock.
The timer helps, but it is no substitute for your attention: switch it off when you leave the house.
How to install a wall heater and start using it
Choose the wall
Find a solid stretch of wall, high up, with a socket within reach of the cable and no curtains, shelves or furniture below the air outlet. Keep the clearances to the ceiling and sides given in the manual.
Fix the bracket
Mark the holes, check that no pipes or cables run behind that spot, drill and fasten the bracket with wall plugs and screws suited to your type of wall.
Hang the unit and plug it in
Fit the heater onto the bracket, check that it sits firm and connect the plug straight into the wall socket, without extension leads or power strips.
Set it with the remote
Switch it on, choose the mode and the temperature and, if you like, set the timer.
Switch it off when you finish
Switch it off with the remote and, out of season, unplug it.
Care and maintenance
Before cleaning it, switch it off, unplug it and wait for it to cool. Wipe the casing with a dry cloth and remove dust from the intake grilles and the outlet slot with a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner on low power; do not use water or sprays. If the unit has a removable air filter, clean it as the manual says. Check now and then that the bracket screws are still tight. If you notice a burning smell, odd noises or the plug getting hot, unplug it and stop using it.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have to drill to install a wall heater?
Yes. It is fixed high up with a bracket, wall plugs and screws, so holes have to be made in the wall. Check beforehand that the wall is solid, that no pipes or cables run behind that spot and that there is a socket within reach of the cable. If you are not comfortable with a drill, ask someone who is.
Does a split-style wall heater also cool in summer?
No. Although its shape recalls a split unit, it is an electric heater with a heating element and a fan. The fan mode without heat moves the air in the room at the temperature it already has, without cooling it. If what you want is to cool your home in summer, this appliance is not for that.
Can the wall heater go in the bathroom?
No. We have no confirmed rating for protection against water, so we sell it as not suitable for bathrooms or damp rooms such as utility rooms or very steamy kitchens. A bathroom needs a heater that states clearly that it is suitable and that is installed at the proper distances from the shower and the basin.
What size of room does an electric wall heater warm?
It is meant for one closed room of ordinary size, such as a bedroom, a study or a living room, not for several rooms at once or a whole home. What you notice depends on the size of the room, the insulation and how cold it is outside. The power is listed in the specifications on this page.
How much electricity does a wall heater with thermostat use?
Like every electric resistance heater, it uses electricity while it heats, in proportion to its power and to how long it is on. The power is listed in the specifications. The thermostat makes it stop heating once the chosen temperature is reached and the timer stops it being left on by mistake, but do not expect it to be cheap to run.
Can I leave the wall heater with timer on all night?
It is not advisable. Use it to warm the bedroom before you go to bed and set the timer so it switches itself off shortly afterwards. Like any appliance that produces heat, it is best run with someone awake at home. It also has a fan, so there is a steady whirr that may bother you when you are trying to sleep.
