Revoria is a 3-in-1 foil shaver for men who wear a beard and want to keep it in shape at home between one trip to the barber and the next. A single rechargeable body, in black and gold, takes three heads: the foil head gives a close shave on the cheeks and neck, the clipper with guide comb evens out the length, and the detail head draws the edges. You switch from one to another depending on the area you are working on.
A foil shaver for clearing cheeks and neck
The shaving head has a thin, perforated metal foil; beneath it, the blades move from side to side and cut the hair that pokes through the holes. Use it in straight strokes, against the grain and without pressing. It is the head for everything outside the beard: the upper cheeks and the neck below the line you have marked. It works best on hair that is already short, so it helps to take the length down with the clipper beforehand.
A machine for shaving and trimming your beard, with a guide comb
The second head is a straight-blade clipper. With the guide comb fitted, the teeth keep the blade away from the skin and the whole beard ends up the same length; run it slowly against the grain, going back over the areas where the hair grows in another direction. Without the comb it cuts right at skin level, which is handy for taking down the nape or the sideburns.
The detail head: a beard edger for the outlines
The third head is narrower and is meant for edges: the cheek line, the outline of the moustache, the area under the lip and the boundary on the neck. Because it is small you can see exactly where it is going, which helps you trace clean, symmetrical lines. Work in short strokes, facing the mirror, and take off a little at a time: you can always remove a bit more, but you cannot put it back.
A rechargeable shaver and clipper: three heads, one body
The heads are swapped by hand, with no tools. The body is cordless and recharges with its cable; battery life, charging time and whether it can be used while plugged in are in the specifications table. The box also holds a brush for removing hair and a small bottle of oil for the blades. Together it all takes up little room in a wash bag.
How to shape your beard at home step by step
Even out the length
With your beard dry and combed, fit the clipper with the guide comb and run it against the grain over the whole beard.
Mark the neckline
Take the comb off and trace the lower boundary, a little above the Adam's apple, from ear to ear.
Draw cheeks and moustache
Switch to the detail head and define the cheek edge and the lip outline with short strokes.
Shave what is left over
Fit the foil head and run it without pressing over the cheeks and neck, outside the lines you marked.
Check and clean
Check the symmetry in the mirror, switch the shaver off and brush the hair away.
Cleaning and maintenance
- After each use, take the head off and remove the hair with the brush provided.
- Do not knock or press on the foil: it is thin and dents easily.
- Now and then, put a drop of oil on the clipper blades and switch on for a few seconds to spread it.
- Keep the body and the connector dry, and do not use it in the shower.
Frequently asked questions
Does a foil shaver work on a long beard?
Not directly. The foil catches short hair well, the kind that fits through its holes; with long hair it tugs and leaves patches uncut. That is why this model comes with a clipper: take down the area you want to clear with it and finish with the foil head, which shaves right down to the skin.
How do I edge my beard at home without wobbly lines?
Face the mirror in good light with your beard dry. Start in the middle, under the chin, and work towards each ear in short strokes, comparing one side with the other every so often. Mark the line with the detail head and leave shaving the leftover hair until the end. Take off a little at a time.
Can I use it in the shower or with foam?
Do not use it in the shower. Unless the specifications table states a water resistance rating, treat it as a device for dry use: dry skin and beard, with the body and connector kept away from water. To clean it, use the brush; do not hold the body under the tap or charge it with wet hands.
What is the oil in the box for?
It is lubricating oil for the blades of the clipper and the detail head. A drop now and then, spread by running the machine for a few seconds, helps the blades glide with less friction and stay sharp for longer. Wipe off the excess with a tissue before use and keep the bottle tightly closed.
Can I use the clipper head on my hair as well?
Yes, for touch-ups: the nape, the sideburns and around the ears between haircuts, or to keep a short buzz cut with the guide comb. It does not replace a barber-style hair clipper, which has a wider blade and several combs; for a full cut with a fade, that is still the right tool.
When should the shaving foil be replaced?
When you notice it shaves less well or tugs at the hair, and whenever you see it dented, cracked or pierced: in that case stop using the head straight away, because the blades are left exposed. How long it lasts depends on use and on your type of beard. To make it last, clean it without pressing and do not knock it against the washbasin.
